Subject: keyboard purchase from Pipe Dream cover charge Hi Kathy, I hope this email finds you well. Since receiving the donation in May from the cover charge to Pipe Dream’s concert in April at Chicago Pizza, we thought long and hard about the best use of the donation. Multiple discussions took place with our music therapist Cara, as we really wanted her insight on how she could enhance her therapeutic interventions when providing services to our pediatric patients. The decision came to purchasing a keyboard with a mobile stand so that she could take the keyboard from room to room. Over the last couple of months, Cara has been incorporating the keyboard to assist patients with identifying their feelings, using it as a vehicle for writing music and lyrics and/or facilitating a patient’s use of motor skills to reach a medical goal… just to name a few! We know there will be many, MANY more uses and opportunities for Cara to integrate the keyboard into her patient encounters. Pipe Dream’s thoughtfulness and generosity is truly a gift of selflessness. Because of the donation, we have been able to bring Pipe Dream’s passion for music to the bedside in order to help heal even the youngest of patients during a most stressful time for children and families. Attached is a photo and video (shortened so it could be sent via email) of a session Cara had with a patient named Michael. I hope you can feel the pure joy he had for being able to stretch his hands across the keyboard and make some beautiful music!
